I Like Food
I like food. To me, eating food is always a new adventure. I like taking risks and I'm very outgoing, and I'm willing to try all sorts of different things to get new thrills out of life! I’m the kind of guy who would be just like Anthony Bourdain when he was little, I was very willing to go out and try new things. I love going to new cultures and finding new kinds of food and lifestyles. If anyone would put some sort of foreign cuisine in front of me, I would try it right away with no questions asked.
As I am sitting here and typing, I am trying to remember when i was little and had some weird food experiences, I came up with a few examples. When I was in 5th grade my dad and step mom took me and my sister to Canada, I don’t remember where exactly we stayed, but I remember that there was some terrible looking food. And while we were there that was the first time that I ever tried Calamari. I know that isn’t very exotic or different than what we have here because a lot of restaurants have that meal. But to me, the only thing that I could picture on that plate was a juicy, slimy squid shaking around. My parents didn’t force me to eat it obviously, but they kept saying how good it was even though it looked like the most disgusting thing I had ever seen. So then I said that I wanted to try it, and when I did I can just remember how delicious it was, when I dipped it in the sauce and then took a bite and all the flavors just exploded in my mouth, I thought it was just fantastic. Then for the rest of our trip I tried so many different things that I never really would have ever wanted to try. I tried dolphin, and moose, and turtle. While I know that sounds completely morbid, it was some of the best tasting cuisine that I had ever had, still to this day.
Since then, I haven’t really been afraid to try new things. I guess just since I figured out how good some of these things can be decided that I shouldn’t be so skeptical about my food choices and going shouldn’t feel uncomfortable going out of my comfort zone.
